class ConditionalAlleleClass(*values)[source]

Bases: StrEnum

How a conditional allele of an essential gene reduces its function.

  • temperature_sensitive: an amino-acid-substitution allele, null at the restrictive temperature (cdc28-4).

  • damp: Decreased Abundance by mRNA Perturbation, a marker inserted in the 3’ UTR.

  • promoter_replacement: the native promoter replaced by a regulatable one (e.g. a tetO promoter shut off by doxycycline).

An allele of UNKNOWN class is not a member: it is allele_class=None with a ProvenanceGap (one encoding of “unknown”, never a fourth enum value).
